Operation Valentine (OV) is the name of the British invasion of the Faroe Islands on the 11 April 1940, and in 2015 Det Ferösche Compagnie made a new performance to mark the 75th anniversary of the invasion. The aim of the performance is to give an artistic portrey of the influence that the Birtish invasion had on Faroese culture. The vast number of British soldiers brought with them new and modern culture, different traditions, new dances, language, music and products. The invasion also had great political impact on Faroese society in terms of encouraging a national movement and it was instrumental in initiating a referendum on Faroese independency after World War II. The performance presents the artistic account of Det Ferösche Compagnie of this significant period in Faroese history.
